I was really hoping to bring my family to Colbeh for a meal, but the booking process was incredibly frustrating. We tried to reserve a table for 6 people, but their website refused the standard booking, automatically classifying a group of 6 as "private dining" that requires special arrangements. A dinner for 6 is just a standard family meal, not a private corporate event. After the system blocked the standard reservation, I received an automated email stating that someone from Colbeh would contact me to finalise the arrangement. No one ever reached out. I followed up by sending them a direct message on their Instagram page, which was also completely ignored. If a restaurant cannot handle a simple family booking or respond to basic customer inquiries, it doesn't inspire much confidence in the actual dining experience. We took our business elsewhere.

A really disappointing experience. I have dined at Soofi a number of times and thoroughly enjoyed it, great service cosy atmosphere and fabulous food. But I thought for a change I would take my wife to Colbeh for a bite to eat for Sunday lunch. It seemed reasonably busy not excessive. We entered and waited by the podium, I could see two team members by the bar, we were totally ignored for 10 minutes. Finally a lady did come over and said I shall clear a table, sit there and pointed at two seats to the right. It felt like an instruction you would direct towards your pet dog 🐕. However we did ignore the rude manor and the fact that there were at least 15 tables free if you included outside, taking a seat as ordered. Oddly for a purveyor of food, this seemed the last thing on their mind, actually serving our sharing their cuisine with the public. As we were just left seated for a further 15 minutes without any acknowledgment. That’s where our Colbeh experience came to an end, as we left without any further contact from the Colbeh team, 25 minutes of frustration and disappointment. 🤷‍♂️ My takeaway from the experience and my recommendation is for anyone wishing to experience fine Middle Eastern cuisine with friendly service in a warm environment, GO TO SOOFI, which is just a few doors down, they get it right. A real shame as I did want to try Colbeh, but sadly I shall just have to shelve that idea as I am not prepared to go through that experience again. Lost a frequent diner guys 🤷‍♂️

Very disappointing experience I went to Colbe restaurant with friend and unfortunately both of us became very ill after eating there we had severe diarrhoea and stomach problems for the next two days I called the restaurant to complain and explain what happened but the response was extremely disappointing they didn’t offer any compensation even a complimentary meal or refund

I’ve given this a 4 star because over the years the portion sizes of some of the starters I order is getting smaller and the food is expensive, some the mocktails have been removed . Overall the food is tasty , I like the decor but a bit of an overkill on the pictures of the shah - maybe landscape photography of the beautiful country of Iran or arts and crafts would be a better option to show off the vibrant culture. Waiting staff could be a bit more friendlier but I still enjoy coming here every time. I enjoy eating the shah platter , the starters are very tasty too

Colbeh is one of the long standing restaurants on Hagley road and has kept a great reputation by serving delicious authentic Persian dishes throughout the years. The food has always great and the environment looks even nicer after they did some renovation work. Staff are also very friendly. But we miss the nice gentleman who used to be there during weekends before the renovations took place. 👍👍😇

This place was so disappointing that I genuinely had to double-check I had gone to the same restaurant everyone else is reviewing. The food was poor quality, overpriced, and completely underwhelming. I have had better meals for far less money, and at least those meals didn’t come with the added bonus of frustrating customer service. The service was the kind that makes you wonder whether asking a simple question is somehow a personal attack. Everything felt harder than it needed to be, and by the end I was more impressed by my own patience than anything I had actually paid for. What truly confused me was seeing so many glowing reviews afterwards. Based on my experience, I can only assume I visited an entirely different universe. Maybe I caught them on the worst day of their history. Maybe the chef, the service and the atmosphere all decided to take annual leave at the same time. Whatever happened, I would not pay to repeat it. For me: poor food, high prices, disappointing service, and absolutely no reason to return. One visit was enough. More than enough, actually.

Awful experience. Slow unattentive staff, no complementary sides (bread olives dips salad) like similar restaurants offer their customers -such as 'Turk Nazz'or 'Sheesh' next door. The food took a while to come out, and when it arrived, it was stone cold. I told the waiter that the rice was cold so they reheated the same plate with salad in the microwave 🥶 the lamb shank appeared ok until we broke into it and that was stone cold! Disgusting service! The cheek to charge ridiculously prices for cold food reheated up on a microwave. We've had great persian food before many times but not here. We paid around £80 and left unsatisfied with most of the food on the plates. The so called manager was terrible. Never again. Left hungry. Avoid, save your money go next door to Sheesh, tasty food and great service.

Colbeh is a great restaurant for its food and we have been here multiple times with our friends and family for different events. However the service is quite bad for a restaurant like colbeh that serves amazing food. We were served by this staff member named Honey and she was quite rude and giving loads of attitude. We have also noticed it was not only towards customers but also towards other staff, this type of behaviour is very rare from colbeh’s staff and it was my first time facing this matter as we have been served in this restaurant multiple times. I think this person needs to be trained more to respect not only the customers but also its own staff.

One of my favourite Persian restaurants! The food is always lovely and this time we had Melika looking after us, who was so sweet and welcoming. She had a lovely smile, listened to what we wanted, was really quick and attentive, and gave us some great recommendations. She genuinely cared about making sure we had a nice experience. Definitely made this visit extra special! ❤️

I had a horrible cobide for second time.so fat and burnt.they tried to cover the burnt parts with salad. Even if it wasn’t burnt , this food has got along way to be acceptable by costomers

My wife and I celebrated my 66th birthday at Colbeh, an establishment with which I am very familiar, and of which I also know the owner. The restaurant has undergone a comprehensive refurbishment to exemplary standards. The ambience is agreeable and exceptionally welcoming. The cuisine offered is, to the best of my knowledge, authentic Persian. What distinguishes this dining venue is the excellence of service at the tables. We had the privilege of being served by distinguished members of the team, Sethara and Mina. Both ladies displayed charm, politeness, and eloquence. I observed that their body language was consistent with their verbal communication, a subtle sign of excellent customer service. I recommend Colbeh to anyone who wants to enjoy a holistic experience of Persian cuisine in the heart of Birmingham on Hagley Road.

Great food. Dessert came with sprinkles of nuts. They don't tell you this so be aware if you have a nut allergy. They didn't ask if I had a nut allergy and expected me to tell them I did. I guess next time I order water I'll tell them I've got a nut allergy

First time trying Persian food, and I was genuinely impressed! The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful inside - such a lovely atmosphere and definitely a cute spot for a date. We visited around 3pm on a Saturday and it was surprisingly quiet and peaceful, which we actually really enjoyed. As soon as we arrived, a member of staff came over and showed us to our table. Everyone was really friendly and welcoming, and the service was super quick. Our food came out within about 5 minutes! The food itself was amazing and full of flavour. We ordered two main meals, two mocktails, two desserts and a Persian tea, which came to around £81 altogether. I do think the prices are slightly on the expensive side, but the portions and quality of the food were really good, so we still left very happy. Such a lovely first experience with Persian food — beautiful interior, peaceful atmosphere, friendly service and, most importantly, delicious food. For parking, we managed to find free parking on a nearby side road and it was only about a 3-minute walk to the restaurant, so it was really convenient.

One of Birmingham's tastiest restaurants, and their food is plentiful. I tried most of the menu. I recommend the liver and fattoush salad. They also have delicious Levantine appetizers.

I love this restaurant. The food tastes great and the decor and ambiance is amazing. However the portion sizes have definitely gone down and the prices remain the same, it’s a little shady. If you order chips vs the rice the chips come in a tiny bowl. They are “thick cut” meaning there is less in the bowl. They served the geymeh in a thin flat plate, previously it was in a bowl. See the photo… Tell me we are in a cost of living crisis without telling me….

I had a very good experience at Colbeh Restaurant. The food was delicious, and the staff were very professional, polite, and welcoming. We really enjoyed our evening and had a lovely time. Although there was a period when the experience was not quite as good as we had expected, I’m very pleased to see that the quality and service have improved significantly. Based on my recent visit, I would definitely recommend Colbeh and look forward to visiting again.

First visit at Colbeh Persian Kitchen & Bar and honestly it was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Birmingham for Persian cuisine. First impression, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming and beautifully presented with a modern yet authentic Persian feel. The food was outstanding from start to finish. Everything tasted fresh, well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The grilled meats were tender, juicy and full of flavour, and the rice was light, fragrant and complemented the dishes perfectly. You can genuinely tell care goes into both the presentation and quality of the food. The portion sizes were generous and well worth the price. The staff were also excellent throughout the evening attentive, polite and always making sure we were comfortable without being intrusive. Service was smooth even while the restaurant was busy, which really stood out. The restaurant itself was clean, stylish and had a great atmosphere for both family meals and evenings out with friends. Parking nearby was convenient and the overall experience felt premium without being overpriced. I would highly recommend Colbeh to anyone looking for authentic Persian food in Birmingham. Definitely a place I’ll be returning to again soon.

We’ve visited before the refurbishment and it was good — but now it’s on a completely different level. The transformation is incredible. The atmosphere is elegant and sophisticated, beautifully blended with authentic Persian charm that immediately makes you feel special. From the moment you walk in, the team makes you feel genuinely welcome. The staff are attentive, professional, and always smiling. The owner is present, personally ensuring everything runs perfectly — and you can truly feel that attention to detail in every aspect of the experience. The food is simply outstanding — rich, authentic Persian flavours prepared to perfection. Every dish is beautifully presented with perfectly balanced portion sizes. The koobideh was thin, juicy, and wonderfully aromatic, and the shishlik was so tender it literally melted in the mouth. Absolutely exceptional. They also offer a great selection of drinks and a fantastic private function room that comfortably hosts around 30 guests — ideal for special occasions and celebrations. This has without a doubt become our new go-to destination for Persian cuisine. If you’re looking for authentic flavours, a classy atmosphere, and top-tier service, this is the place to be.

Pretty good place ! The service could have been a bit better. The waiter was new to the job and forgot to place my order after taking it. So I had to wait a bit longer to get the food. I was duly compensated for the time with a nice starter. The parking needs to be validated upon entry and there is a good number of spots available even on a busy day. Taste of food was good. Nothing exceptional but it is one of the places that staus in the memory for long
